A Sneak Peek into the Tour Locations
Wellington’s Herbs and Spices
We’ll start the day at Wellington’s Herbs and Spices in Schoharie where we will see an exhibit from the sculpture artist Jason Shultz, walk through the flower gardens and visit the high tunnel greenhouse and fish ponds. We’ll learn all about what it means to be NOFA-certified organic, how irrigation systems work and have the opportunity to pick some of our own.
Frederick and Carolyn Wellington will serve us lunch in the sculpture gallery. A sandwich, island tea, and a cookie will be provided and vegan and gluten free options are available. After lunch we will have time to walk to Wellington’s shop where we can purchase herbs, teas and trinkets.
Smyth/Cid Pottery
In the early afternoon we’ll visit Smyth/Cid pottery where we’ll take a tour of the pottery studio and watch them open the kiln! We can purchase fresh pottery pieces while they’re still warm and have access to other pieces for sale as well.
David Smyth will provide snacks and tea.
Barber’s Farm
In the afternoon we’ll visit Barber’s Farm in the beautiful Scoharie Valley. Weather-permitting, owner Cindy Barber will take us on a hour-long wagon tour of the fields with beautiful views. She will talk about the produce they grow and give us the opportunity to pick our own from their fields.
After the tour, you’ll have time to browse the farm stand if you wish.
